Vacation Wales is pleased to offer you, the discerning traveler, the opportunity to visit in three days SIX of the classical Castles of South and West Wales with a fourth day extension to North Wales, if required, for Caernarfon and Beaumaris Castles.

The three day tour price includes accommodation on a B&B basis, (there are several places locally we recommend for an evening meal that offer quality fresh food), all castle entrance fees, transport in an air conditioned, spacious mini-coach seating 8 - larger groups will be catered for.

With names as famous as Carreg Cennen and Caerphilly, Kidwelly and Castell Coch or Lamphey Bishops Palace and Carew, these treasured ruins of the dark and middle ages are familiar to both residents and visitors alike.

Day 1
Today will see us start our tour, meeting at our mutually agreed point in South Wales. Our first venue will be a visit to the fine castle of Caerphilly with the leaning tower, they still have jousting and other ancient art forms here - maybe on the day of your visit? Lunch could be taken at Caerphilly town near to the castle if required, finishing our day at the lovely Castell Coch, a lovingly built fairy tale castle just outside Cardiff. Overnight in the Neath area.

Day 2
Today we visit Carew, claimed to be the most attractive castle in South West Wales, and then we take a short drive to the famous walled Town of Tenby where lunch can be taken. A drive back to our accommodation in the afternoon stopping off on our way at the Bishops Palace at Lamphey which in 1326 AD was the favorite residence of the Bishops of St David's.

Day 3
This day sees us at the majestic Kidwelly Castle which is in a well preserved state with powerful defenses going back to the 12th century. We then make our way to the spectacular Carreg Cennen, 300ft above the Cennen Valley, torches are available on the Minibus for your use here as there is a passage that goes deep under the Castle to a natural cave, and there is also a lovely farmhouse restaurant here. Please be aware that the walk to the castle is up a steep hill.

Day 4  (optional extra - minimum of 4 people)
No visit to Wales would be complete without a culminating visit to Edward 1st most dramatic and grand Castles of North Wales; both echo strength and power. You really do feel a sense of irrelevance when you walk into these giants. Caernarfon Castle protects the town and was the site of the Prince of Wales's Investiture by the Queen in 1969, it was also revisited by the then Royal couple Charles and Diana in 1981.The Castle also houses the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers – a sightseeing must do. Beaumaris Castle with its moat and foreboding presence overlooking the entrance to the Menai Straits was the last and largest castle to be built by King Edward 1st in Wales.

Vacation Wales is able to arrange accommodation at the start or end of your tour should you wish, together with rail tickets to any UK mainland destination, simply email us your requests – we aim to make your break as enjoyable as possible.
